1st Prize for the Emerge Fresh Ideas competition is the $1000 Colin Power Award.

Emeritus Professor Colin Power AM, a global leader in education research, policy and practice, has held the positions of Deputy Director-General of UNESCO (1999- 2000) and Assistant Director-General for Education (1989 to 1998), the most senior posts ever held in UNESCO by an Australian.

Colin is currently President of World Education Fellowship (Australia); Chair of the Commonwealth Consortium for Education; Editor-in-Chief of Educational Research for Policy and Practice; and on the Eidos Institute Board of Directors.

The Colin Power Award is in honor of the work that Colin Power has done towards alleviating poverty through education.
